3.26. Replacement of brake fluid

Do not apply the brake fluid which was repeatedly in the use! It is easy to distinguish the used brake fluid from fresh on more dark color.

Do not merge brake fluid in the sewerage at all and do not throw out in containers for household waste! Inofrmatsy by rules of utilization of technical liquids can receive at car repair shops.

General information

The following belongs to number of the tools necessary for implementation of the described procedure:

Hydraulic liquid through a time of brake hoses and an air vent of the tank of the main brake cylinder (MBC) absorbs the moisture which is contained in the atmosphere owing to what in use the car temperature of its boiling gradually falls that is accompanied by risk of decrease in efficiency of functioning of brake mechanisms as a result of active steam formation in a hydraulic path at high brake loadings.

Replacement of brake fluid should be made at least once in two years, it is desirable in the spring.

At operation of the car in the hilly area replacement of brake fluid should be made more often.

On HUNDRED removal of air from the brake system is, as a rule, made by means of special adaptation, however, in case of need pumping of a brake path can be made also by means of a pedal of a foot brake, - the help of the assistant will be required. The description of the procedure of pumping of the brake system is provided in the Head Tormoznaya and auxiliary systems.

Order of implementation of the procedure

With use of reserve capacity and the device for pumping


  1. Turn off a GTTs tank cover.
  1. By means of the syringe or a rubber pear pump out liquid from the tank.
  2. Working according to instructions of manufacturers, connect to the tank the reserve container with brake fluid and the device for pumping of a path (see the Head Tormoznaya and auxiliary systems).
  3. Working also, as well as when replacing hydraulic liquid of the drive of blocking of differential (see the Section Replacement of Liquid of the Drive of Blocking of Differential), serially lower old brake fluid via pumping gates at first of drum, then disk brake mechanisms.
  4. Disconnect the reserve capacity and the device for pumping, then screw and tighten a GTTs tank cover.

Without use of reserve capacity and the device for pumping


  1. Replacement of brake fluid is made in the course of performance of pumping of a hydraulic path (see the Head Tormoznaya and auxiliary systems), - pumping should be made until fresh brake fluid, pure, free from air bubbles, does not begin to follow from gates of brake mechanisms.

After replacement performance


  1. Make sure of durability of fixing of brake tubes and hoses in all provided clamps. Check reliability of delay in nipple connections and gates of pumping. Check liquid level in the GTTs tank.
  2. On the working engine check tightness of system. For this purpose press about 10 times a brake pedal with effort of 200 - 300 N (there correspond 20 - 30 kg). The pedal of a brake should not leave back. Check all connections for tightness.
  3. In conclusion check action of brakes on the road with not heavy traffic of transport. For this purpose it is necessary to make not less than one strong braking, having checked ABS action (a sign of operation of ABS the intensive pulsation of a pedal of a foot brake when braking is).

The effect of operation of ABS is best of all shown on roads without asphalt concrete covering.
