4.5. Calculation of a consumption of oil

Petrol models of release for 30.11.00.

Measurement of a consumption of oil on petrol models of release till 30.11.00

087 — HHT
094 — the Multiplex cable
X11/4 — the Diagnostic DLC socket

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Measurement is performed by means of a manual tester (HHT). Check has to be made only on the filled fresh oil the engine with the established new full-line oil filter that allows to avoid the error connected with penetration into fuel oil.

Need for change of motive oil / an oil filter is absent if run size after the last regular replacement makes less than 1000 km.

  1. Attentively examine the power unit on existence of traces of external leak of oil, in case of need remove the cause of development of leaks.
  2. If check is made by forces of experts branded HUNDRED Mercedes-Benzs, the size of a control run makes 250 km (the personnel have to be acquainted previously with service conditions of the car and a manner of driving of the owner). Alternatively, the measurement can be made by own forces of the owner with a control run in 1000 km.
  3. Strictly adhering to instructions of manufacturers, connect a manual tester of HHT (087) to the diagnostic DLC (X11/4) socket of the car.
  4. For removal of indications come into the subsection "Actual values" of the section "Active service system since last oil change" of the menu of a tester.

The size specifying an oil consumption on 100 km of a run in point 05 of the menu should not be used at calculations!

  1. From point 02 of the menu consider the value corresponding to amount of the oil which is filled in at the last shift, for example, of 6.3 l.
  2. From point 05 define real amount of oil at the time of measurement, for example, of 5.9 l.
  3. The amount of the oil added in the engine lately can be defined from point 04 of the menu, - this size needs to be added on at calculation.
  4. From point 01 of the menu consider the indication corresponding to run size from the moment of the last shift of oil, for example, of 1146 km.
  5. Calculation is made on a formula:
    Oil consumption = (a difference of indications in liters x 1000) / run size = = (6.3 – 5.9) x1000/1146 = 400/1146 = 0.35 l / 1000 km
  1. On the basis of the received result you make timely adjustment of level of oil, or execute necessary recovery repair.

Petrol models of release from 01.12.00 and diesel models

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Measurement is performed by means of the skanerny reader STAR-DIAGNOSIS. Conditions of check are similar stated above for petrol models of release till 30.11.00.
  2. The order of connection of the reader is described in the Head Sistemy of electric equipment of the engine.

It is previously necessary to clear memory of the module of onboard self-diagnostics of the DTC codes which are written down in it (if those are present at it) (see the Head Sistemy of electric equipment of the engine).

  1. It is the best of all to make reading of indications in the same point of the area where the last replacement of oil (a point of the beginning of a control run) was made.
  2. Open the subsection "KI (instrument cluster)" of the section "Body" of the menu of the main groups of the reader.
  3. Further come into the Driven travel distance since last oil change point of the subsection "Active service system since last oil change" of the section "Active values" and determine the exact size of a control run, for example, of 1123 km.
  4. From the Quantity of oil added during oil change point consider amount of the oil which is filled in at the last shift, for example, of 6.3 l.
  5. The real amount of the oil which is present at the engine can be schitano from the Last and second last detected oil quantity in engine with engine operation point. Let, for example, 5.6 l.
  6. Further, on a formula an oil Consumption = (a difference of indications in liters x 1000) / run size = = (6.3 – 5.9) x1000/1146 = 400/1146 = 0.35 l / 1000 km, define an oil consumption: 0.7x1000/1123 = 0.62 l / 1000 km.
