3.9. Check of a power supply system, replacement of the fuel filter

Gasoline is extremely flammable therefore during the work with any components of fuel system it is necessary to take special precautionary measures! You do not smoke, and do not approach the venue of works with naked flame or the carrying unprotected by the lamp shade. Do not perform such works in the garages equipped with the heating devices using natural gas (such as vodogre, dryers, etc.)! The working platform has to be ventilated well. At hit of gasoline on skin immediately wash away it water with soap. When carrying out any works with fuel system put on goggles and you hold near at hand the fire extinguisher. In case of a gasoline spillage immediately wipe a pool, but do not keep the rags impregnated with gasoline in places where the risk of its ignition is not excluded!

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. At emergence of a smell of gasoline during the movement or after the car stood in the sun, it is necessary to check a condition of all fuel system immediately.
  2. Uncover the fuel tank and check it for existence of damages and signs of development of corrosion. Estimate a condition of a sealing element of a cover. Replace defective components.
  3. Survey lines of giving and return of fuel on existence of cracks and deformations. Estimate reliability of delay in nipple connections on the fuel distributive highway and the built-in fuel filter.

Before starting service of components of a fuel path do not forget to dump pressure in a power supply system (see the Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases)!

  1. For the purpose of ensuring access to some components of a power supply system, such as the fuel tank and separate fuel lines laid under the bottom, the car should be hung out previously over the earth (see appropriate section in Introduction).
  2. Having hung out the car, examine the fuel tank and its jellied mouth on existence of holes, cracks and other damages. Special attention should be paid to a condition of a joint of a mouth with a tank. Sometimes leak of fuel arises owing to weakening of collars of fastening of a mouth, or because of aging of rubber of which the mouth is made. Attentively study a condition of elements of fastening of the fuel tank, in case of need make the corresponding corrections.

Do not make attempts of independent performance of repair of the fuel tank at all (excepting replacement of its rubber components), - remember that the contact of the fuel evaporations which are contained in a tank with naked flame of a gas torch inevitably leads to ignition of the last!

  1. Carefully check reliability of delay in all nipple connections of the fuel hoses and metal lines going from a tank. Make sure of lack of deformations and signs of aging of materials of flexible hoses. Replace defective components.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Open a cover of the fuel tank for the purpose of alignment of pressure in it with atmospheric.
  2. By means of a special clip press fuel hoses.
  3. Turn out a hollow bolt of nipple connection (6).
  4. Weaken fixing screws (2).
  5. Remove assembly from rubber pillows of a support (7) and release the fuel filter (5) from a collar (3).
  6. Disconnect the inlet fuel line (1) from the old filter and, having replaced a sealing ring, connect it to the new filter.
  7. At installation of the new filter track that the plastic coupling acted on both sides of a collar (3), - otherwise the risk of development of galvanic corrosion increases.

The arrow on the case of the filter has to specify in the direction of the movement of a stream of fuel.

  1. Further installation is made as it should be, the return to an order of dismantle of components.
  2. In conclusion start the engine and check the corresponding components of a fuel path for existence of signs of development of leaks, in case of need tighten fasteners.

Diesel models - replacement of filters, removal of moisture and air

Full-line fuel filter

G270 CDI (M612)

Details of installation of the full-line fuel filter on the diesel models equipped with the M612 (G270 CDI) engine



 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove panels of finishing of a head of cylinders.
  2. Disconnect from the fuel filter (3) inlet (1) and final (2) fuel lines, - prepare replaceable fixing collars.
  3. If the filter is removed together with a fixing collar (6), weaken bolts (4) and slightly raise a cooler of fuel (5).
  4. Weaken the coupling screw of a fixing collar (6) and take the fuel filter (70), or, - if it is required, - release the corresponding fixture and remove the filter assembled with a collar.
  5. Installation is made upside-down, - before start of the engine the filter has to be filled with fuel, and the low pressure fuel path is blown (see the Section Removal of Air from a contour of low pressure of a fuel path).
  6. In conclusion start the engine and check fuel system for existence of signs of development of leaks. In case of need make the corresponding corrections.

G400 CDI (M628)

Details of installation of the full-line fuel filter on the diesel models equipped with the М628(G400 CDI) engine

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Open a cowl and record it in vertical position.
  2. Remove assembly of the air cleaner (1) (see the Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
  3. Disconnect from the fuel filter (70) inlet (70/1) and final (70/2) fuel lines, - prepare replaceable fixing collars.
  4. Weaken the coupling screw of a fixing collar (3) and take the fuel filter (70), or, - if it is required, - turn out bolts (2) and remove the filter assembled with a collar.
  5. Installation is made upside-down.
  6. In conclusion start the engine and check fuel system for existence of signs of development of leaks. In case of need make the corresponding corrections.

The preliminary fuel filter with a settler, - removal of a sediment and replacement of the filtering element

Replacement of the preliminary fuel filter has to be made along with replacement of the full-line filter (see above)!

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make replacement of the full-line fuel filter (see above).
  2. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the filter (1).
  3. Pull on spuskny the gate (2) a hose with a diameter about 8 mm.
  4. Weaken spuskny the gate (2) and merge water-fuel mix in the prepared capacity.
  5. Disunite the socket (3).
  6. Turn off a cover (4) moisture separators, - prepare a replaceable sealing ring.
  7. Take the filtering element (5) from a cover (4).
  8. Installation is made upside-down.
  9. On the models equipped with the series 612 engine do not forget to blow in conclusion a low pressure fuel path (see the Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).

Removal of air

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If the engine stopped owing to full depletion of the fuel tank, then after gas station it is necessary to remove air from a power supply system. For this purpose within no more than 60 seconds without interruption start the engine until it begins to work steadily.
